Veteran's Day 2009

Veterans' Day is the largest and longest running marching band competition in our state.  Twenty three years ago our competition was referred to as the Washington State Marching Band Championships.
To this day, many band directors and marching band fans still refer to our competition as "Championships".

Veteran's Day features 35 of the finest high school marching bands in the Pacific Northwest.   The City of Auburn's 44th annual Veterans' Day Parade is the largest Veteran's Day parade west of the Mississippi due in part to the 28 marching bands that participate.

Veteran's Day is, also, a fund raising event for the Auburn Band Parents Association to support the band program at Auburn Senior High School.  All of the proceeds raised will benefit the entire band program at Auburn High School not just marching band.  With the proceeds from Veteran's Day we (ABPA) are able to offset student costs for transportation, band camp, meals, housing, honor bands, competition, contests and festival entry fees, along with purchasing new equipment, instruments and paying salary for additional staff and drill instructors.

On behalf of our director, students, staff and parents, we (ABPA) would like to thank our sponsors for their continued support of Veterans' Day and the band program at Auburn Senior High School.  Thank You!

Sincerely,
Sue Hoffman & Teena Dwyer Bailie, Chairs
